Support youth as they learn how to use a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and dive into recording and producing original songs of their own!

During Digital Audio Week, volunteers will support youth as they…

  • Collaborate with real bandmates in a virtual space!
  • Write and record 1 original song with their bandmates!
  • Learn how to use basic tools common to all DAWs!

Volunteer Positions

DIGITAL AUDIO WEEK (DAW) INSTRUCTOR

Are you already well-versed in using Soundtrap, or similar DAW, and excited to show youth how to use it? Have you been thinking about learning Soundtrap but already have experience teaching in general? You should be a DAW INSTRUCTOR!

-No formal musical training needed! We will require that you become a Soundtrap “certified expert” but there will be plenty of time do this at your own pace before the session begins

-Teaching experience is appreciated but not required! As long as you’re psyched to teach the youth, we’ll show you everything you need to know!

-The following experiences are a plus, but if you are missing something from this list, it’s not a deal breaker! Enthusiastic volunteers will be trained accordingly!
–Experience leading groups of youth in discussion, activities and collaboration.
–Experience songwriting or arranging
–Experience working in any DAW (Audacity, Garageband, Ableton, Logic, etc)
–Experience running a Zoom meeting and presenting slide shows

DAW BAND COACH
Volunteer as a positive musical mentor for a band working together the first time! Work directly with a group of 3-4 as they learn to utilize a Digital Audio Workstation (Soundtrap) and collaboratively write a song together Sound good? You’d make a great BAND COACH!

-No formal musical training needed! Self taught? Bring that energy to teaching youth how to D.I.T. (do it together!) learning to use a DAW as a song-writing and production tool

-Teaching experience NOT required! Just enthusiasm to share what you know.

-The following experiences are a plus, but if you are missing something from this list, not a deal breaker! Enthusiastic volunteers will be trained accordingly!
–Experience leading groups of youth or adults in discussion, activities and collaboration.
–Experience songwriting or arranging
–Experience working in any Digital Audio Workstation (Audacity, GarageBand, Ableton, Logic, etc)

GUEST ARTISTS & WORKSHOP LEADERS
Seeking knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic performers, creators, and presenters who can speak/demonstrate on any of these topics to a group of up to 24:

-Audio processing and effects (ie the sound engineer / pedals fanatic but for a DAW setting)
-Synths, signals, and electronic music
-Working with found sounds / experimental music
-Copyright/Creative Licensing
-Online Music Distribution
-Music and Social Change
-DAW and DIY (Digital Audio Workstation and Do It Yourself)

No musical experience necessary! This is an essential role in making Rock Remote a smooth sailing ship! Support participants, volunteers and organizers throughout the day as we welcome youth and volunteers, make sure everyone is able to get to where they need to go and feel supported!
